Pediatric Care

 Infancy:

My baby doesn’t have back pain, why should he/she get chiropractic care? The birthing process is both beautiful yet challenging, a lot of pressures and forces are being put onto the baby during the delivery. A study by Viola Frymann denotes that 90% of newborns suffered the effects of birth trauma, she studied/examined over 1,500 infants within 24 hours of birth. Her study revealed that approximately:

●      10% of newborn babies had a perfect, freely mobile skulls or cranial mechanisms

●      10% had severe trauma to the head, evident even to untrained observers.

●      The remaining 80% all had some strain patterns in the cranial mechanism.

Without proper examination and correction the effects of birth trauma continue to impact the baby's spinal growth and development, reducing healthy function of the nervous system which can cause a myriad of other health challenges later in life.

Even a natural birth without any interventions can have repercussions and result in birth trauma. Here’s a list of possible causes of birth trauma:

●      Very short labor

●      Very long labor

●      Failure of the cervix to dilate

●      Use of Pitocin to strengthen/induce uterine contractions

●      Use of forceps or vacuum extraction

●      Cord around baby’s neck

●      Cesarean delivery (due to lack of progress)

●      Pulling or twisting on the head to deliver the infant's body

Another study by Gutmann reported that birth trauma often causes neurological dysfunction. Gutmann examined over 1,000 infants, and determined that roughly 80% had some form of nerve dysfunction. A child’s first year is a crucial time, 65% of their neurological development takes place during this period. This is why it is important we make sure that their nervous system is as healthy as it can be.

What can nerve dysfunction in a newborn look like?

●      Trouble breathing

●      Reflux/frequent spitting up

●      Irritability/colic

●      Sleeping difficulty

●      Difficulty Nursing

●      Balance issues

●      Delayed developmental milestones

At Adapt Chiropractic, we offer a safe, gentle and effective way to address nerve dysfunction induced from birth trauma. We focus on removing nerve dysfunction through gentle chiropractic adjustments, which improves the brain-body communication. When the nervous system is free of nerve interference it allows the new baby to grow, develop and function at its highest potential.

Pediatric care:

It is safe to say that children undergo stress on their bodies on a regular basis. The first stress that many children receive is from the birthing process itself, followed by the hundreds to thousands of falls and accidents, sitting in school all day, sports traumas, posture challenges, and technology use coupled with emotional and chemical stressors to only name a few.

These stressors can add up and lead to neurological and structural distress. This can lead to colic, infantile reflux, and constipation in newborns and later in life can lead to lowered immune system function, ear infections, digestive issues, ADD/ADHD, autism, and countless others.

At Adapt Chiropractic, we offer a natural option by gently and precisely removing the neurological stress and improving structure to help children thrive and express the best versions of themselves.

Top 10 Reasons Parents Take Their Child to See a Chiropractor

 1. To encourage adequate neural plasticity (brain and nerve development)

 2. To help strengthen their child’s immunity – encouraging fewer colds, ear-aches, and general illnesses

 3. To promote better nerve communication throughout their entire body

 4. To help resolve breastfeeding issues, colic, and reflux

 5. To reduce the impact the modern world has on our children’s health

 6. Supports digestive strength so it allows them to thrive

 7. To aid in better concentration and capacity to learn

 8. Promotion of better balance – helping to resolve poor posture, asthma, allergies, irritability, colic, and bedwetting

 9. To help kids stay fun, lighthearted, and in tip-top shape

 10. To allow a better functioning Nervous-System so all other systems and organs in their body can function at a greater level
